The 7 principles of landscape design are: Harmony, Unity, Focals, Rhythm, Simplicity, Scale and Flow.
Each landscaper has their own slightly different take on this, but the principles are generally the same.
- Harmony: The entire design works together as one for a beautiful viewing experience
- Unity: Every feature works together and complements each other
- Focals: Features that attract the eye
- Rhythm: Consistency in patterns, shapes and colors
- Simplicity: Simple setup of minimal varieties that looks organized
- Scale: The number of features and the features utilized must be appropriately scaled to match the home and other features
- Flow: Transitions in plants, trees, etc., naturally tie everything together
